Britney Spears burst into tears while pleading for privacy from the media during an interview for NBC’s “Dateline.”

Spears told Matt Lauer she wants the paparazzi to leave her and her family alone, and denied that her marriage to Kevin Federline was on the rocks. She said Federline was helping her through the hormonal mood swings of her second pregnancy.

In a choked-up voice, Spears said the media and paparazzi “have to realize that we’re people” and she and husband need their “privacy” and “respect.”

“Those are things that you have to have as a human being,” Spears said.

She insisted that she’s a good mom to her baby boy, Sean Preston, and Federline is a good husband.

Portions of the interview aired Thursday morning on the “Today” show. It will be broadcast in its entirety Thursday night on “Dateline.”

Spears drew criticism earlier this year when she was photographed with her infant son sitting on her lap as she drove.

The singer said she feels like a target.

Federline and Spears married in the fall of 2004, and their son, Sean Preston, was born last September. She revealed last month that she is pregnant again.

Federline also has two children, Kori and Kaleb, with his former girlfriend, Shar Jackson.

Paris Hilton insists pop star Britney Spears should try and cooperate with the paparazzi and not antagonize them.

The hotel heiress, who appeared on the talk show “The View,” claims she sympathizes with Spears’ battle with the media, but that the best way to handle the pesky photographers is to smile and work with them.

She explains, “(The paparazzi) annoy me, too.

“I can understand going to a press event or a premiere that’s fine, they’re there, but when they’re waiting outside your home every morning and following you around every single day it’s hard.

“I’d rather them just take pictures at events, not at my house.

“I think it’s better just to smile than when people give the middle finger or are rude to them, because that’s what they want you to do.

“They want to get a bad picture.”

Britney Spears stunned shoppers and staff at a Victoria’s Secret lingerie shop last week when she changed her son’s diaper on the store’s dirty floor. The singer was shopping at the shop in Mission Viejo, California, on June 4 where she purchased some pink g-stings with eight-month-old son Sean Preston in tow.

The tot needed to have his nappy changed and the 24-year-old plopped him down on the floor next to the cash register. A shocked sales associate recalls, “We don’t have the cleanest floors. She just put him down and changed his diaper and then handed it to a sales clerk saying, ‘Can you throw this away for us?’ We told her that we couldn’t put that in our trash.”

Spears’ parenting skills have been questioned several times this year - in February she received a visit from the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) after she was photographed driving with her son seated on her lap.

In April, Sean Preston was briefly admitted to hospital after he fell from a faulty high-chair while in the care of his former nanny, and last month Spears defended herself again after the baby was spotted slumped in the back of her car.

She’s out to set the record straight about her marriage and parenting skills in an interview set to air Thursday on NBC’s ‘Today’ show and ‘Dateline.’

She said her marriage is ‘awesome,’ and she denounced recent media reports that Kevin Federline is living in the basement of their home.

She goes on to say that scrutiny from the paparazzi has made her an ‘emotional wreck,’ and they’ve ‘crossed the line a little bit’ by showing her in private moments.

She also defended her parenting skills.

‘I know I’m a good mom,’ she said.

She drew criticism earlier this year when she was photographed with her infant son sitting on her lap as she drove. She said growing up in Louisiana she’d sit on her dad’s lap while he drove.

‘We’re country,’ she said.

That was quite possibly the dumbest thing I’ve ever read. “We’re country”? Britney, stop digging!

A paparazzo who claims he was seriously injured in June 2004 when Spears’ mom, Lynne, allegedly ran over his foot and knocked him down in her small SUV has sued the pop star and her mother, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.com.

Spears was reportedly riding in the vehicle at the time with her sister Jamie Lynn and their mom was driving. The three had just left a Santa Monica pet store with two little pups in tow. The plaintiff, Cullen Reavley, was one of a number of photographers who crowded around the ladies as they got into their car, which belonged to Lynne.

Reavley has said that, as the trio started driving away, they hit him with their Toyota Scion. In the lawsuit filed Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Reavley stated that he suffered injuries to his ‘head, neck, back, trunk and extremities, all of which have caused and continue to cause plaintiff great mental, physical and nervous pain and suffering.’

The photographer has asked for an unspecified amount of damages to cover medical fees, loss of wages and injuries that will result in ‘permanent disability,’ according to the complaint.

At the time in question, police arrived on the scene but did not ticket Lynne or accuse her of any wrongdoing. A video shot in the parking lot didn’t capture any run-in, but showed Reavley lying on the ground. An ambulance took him to the hospital, where doctors found swelling but no broken bones.

‘If anyone was injured by accident, it was caused by the paparazzi’s own conduct,’ Spears’ management said in a statement following the incident.

Paparazzi, Spears and cars have become a ‘Toxic’ combination of late. When she was publicly lambasted in February after being spotted driving with her baby boy in her lap, the 24-year-old singer announced that she was just trying to keep her son out of the spotlight.

‘I was terrified that this time the physically aggressive paparazzi would put both me and my baby in danger,’ she said in a statement.

Spears, however, may have found a way to keep out of further trouble in moving vehicles. The expectant mother hired an ex-Navy officer (a midshipman, to be exact) last month for added protection and assistance when she’s out and about.

Since joining Spears’ camp, 28-year-old Perry Taylor has frequently been referred to by the tabloids as the singer’s ‘manny,’ but he reportedly isn’t on diaper duty for nine-month-old Sean Preston.

‘Actually, he’s more of a bodyguard,’ Taylor’s mother, Caroline Moncure-Taylor, told the Baltimore Sun. ‘He is physical, active and fun-loving.’

Then it sounds as if he’s a good match for K-Fed, as well.

Britney Spears has registered her son’s name, ‘Sean Preston’ as a trademark for her baby clothes company. It is being reported that the pregnant Pop-Tart is planning on promoting a full range of children’s clothes under the Sean P’s name, reports Entertainmentwise.

A friend of Britney’s tell the U.K. Sun recently about the ‘Toxic Singer’s’ latest wim: ‘She’s had a lot of time on her hands where it’s just her and Sean and she would doodle designs. She’s really creative and loves doing it … She’s designed a little punk rock outfit, a hip hop outfit and a sharp suit. They’re so cute! I think she’ll try and get boutiques to sell them. She doesn’t want to fund it herself.’

Britney Spears has sent another clear signal her marriage to Kevin Federline is over by planning a holiday without him.

The popstar is reportedly going on a skiing trip to Chile with her son Sean Preston’s new nanny Perry Taylor – and K-Fed hasn’t been invited along.

A source tells the Daily Star, “Britney wants to go somewhere to reflect on the turbulent last couple of months and thought a break in Chile would be just the ticket.’

Will Britney Spears turn K-Fed into Fed-Ex?

I must begin by saying that Jimmy Kimmel made the K-Fed/Fed-Ex joke, and I want to give credit where credit is due. That was wickedly funny Jimmy, so thanks.

Amid rumors that Britney is seriously about to give Kevin his formal walking papers, I have considered his plight and come to the conclusion that what ever happens, he made his bed (correction: the maid did) and he is only lying in it long enough to get Britney pregnant.

In a recent magazine interview Kevin is quoted as saying:

‘I should just put a bulls-eye on my back. If I stay home and take care of my wife and my kids, then I’m a loafer, not a good father. If I try to have a career, nobody thinks I am caring for my family. I can’t win.’

I have to say that I think what he says here does make sense. He married a mega rich woman, but if he doesn’t work, he is considered a dead beat. I admire the fact that he wants to be his own person and earn income. We must remember that he was legitimately in ‘show-biz’ when he met Britney, as backup dancer. Obviously the spot light appeals to K-Fed, so don’t act all surprised that since he has married a huge star, the spot light looks even better to him. I think it is hard whenever one spouse overshadows the other career wise.

But in the entertainment industry, where every day is played out in front of the entire world, with the help of US, STAR and all the other celeb mags, the pressure to succeed is multiplied ten fold. Perhaps Kevin has always had rapper aspirations and was using his dance career as a stepping stone to that goal. Maybe not. Maybe this all came to him after they got hitched. I don’t know and don’t care. He had to know that everything about his life was going to come under scrutiny once he got together with her.

No one can tell me he didn’t know that being Mr. Britney Spears was going to have lots of un-fun moments. Certainly there are the fun moments, buying cars and watches and such, but I think Flava-Flav would say that Kevin does not know what time it is, no matter how much his watch costs.

Who knows what is really going on between him and Britney? I tend to think that all the tabloid fodder is just that, but then I remember how The National Enquirer was right about Rush Limbaugh! Kevin’s friends have been accused of leaking items to the press. If that is true, I would say Britney better don her boots that are made for walkin’. Who knows? Kevin could do a rap remake of ‘my D-I-V-O-R-C-E, becomes final today….”

It might be his biggest (and only) hit ever.
