Despite months of hard partying and substance abuse that ultimately landed her in rehab, The Enquirer has learned that Britney’s downward decline accelerated in mid-February when she was attacked in Miami by someone she knew who wanted to have sex with her.

Although her rep denies this incident took place, sources say she hasn’t been the same since.

Just three days after the assault, Britney shaved her head.

Meanwhile, Spears’s ex-husban, Kevin Federline, thinks Britney Spears has a split personality and should not be trusted.

“Kevin feels like he’s been watching someone with a split personality,” said the source.

“Kevin said he feels like he is talking to different people when he speaks to her.

“One minute Britney is fine, and the next she is blowing up at him and the rest of the world. She’ll tell Kevin she is moving out of L.A. and quitting the business, and then in the next sentence say she is going on tour soon, so he better get his act together so he will be able to keep the kids full time.”

Grease judge Brian Friedman has revealed how his pal Britney Spears is back on track with a “hot” new album.

The choreographer — who has been skinny dipping with the pop princess — said: “Britney’s doing great.

“Her new stuff sounds so good, I’ve got it on my iPod — but guard it with my life! What she’s been going through will be reflected in her music.”

Britney Spears’s aunt, Chandra McGovern, does not believe the singer’s family feud will last.

The 25-year-old singer “disappointed” her parents with her wild partying and head-shaving antics but her aunt thinks her niece is too close to mom, Lynne Spears, for the rift to continue.

Chandra told US TV show ‘Inside Edition’: “The family felt very disappointed in the way she was acting.

“If there is a family feud it won’t last long. She and her mom are close.”

Britney’s aunt believes the young mother-of-two shaved her hair as reaction to the pressure of trying to live up to her pop princess status.

Chandra said: “The head shaving was a rebellion against everybody. She was saying I’m not the pop princess you think I am, now leave me alone.”

The former pop princess used to sell out huge venues, but now many are wondering if she can still perform at that level. One thing is certain; Britney Spears can create a buzz with her clothes off. So - far critics haven’t been kind to Britney. She has had two performances in California; both were short and sweet and filled with a very slimmed down and sexy Britney. That’s good - that’s what fans are looking for, but critics are questioning - can she deliver?

Night one was a sexy lap dance, but many reviews talked about how hot the back up dancers were in comparison to Britney. Within a few hours, photos that are allegedly of Britney with no top were being e-mailed all over. Night two was back in the city of Angels. Her “Do Something” routine included some air guitar, a lot of the hands-on-hips hip thrusts and a brief homage to the running man dance move.

The crowd once again roared its approval when she and her dancers dropped to all fours and crawled in formation down the stage. Spears then popped up to her knees and posed with her dancers around her as the song and the lights came to a simultaneous and abrupt end.

Britney Spears used to be the reigning pop princess. And after a few years of personal tabloid hell, she’s now working on getting her music career back on track.

Was last night’s 15-minute, five-song set in San Diego the way to jump-start this comeback queen’s return? I decided to talk to some experts to get their take.

“A surprise club gig can be a great way to reintroduce an artist, a great tease leaving them wanting more,” says Chuck Arnold, People magazine’s music critic. “It’s a low-pressure environment to work the rust out.”

It wasn’t the gig last night that was the surprise, many industry folks observe; the surprise was how short the show was, how she didn’t perform any new material and how it appeared to feature more lip-synching than actual singing.

“It’s no secret that Britney has always lip-synched, to some degree,” Arnold says. “But on the comeback trail, now’s the time to prove herself as a real artist who doesn’t need to do that.”

Spears’ rep did not comment on the lip-synching speculation.

Ivan Kane, owner of Forty Deuce nightclub in Hollywood, was surprised to hear that Spears may have lip-synched. As I was the first to report on Friday, Spears had intended to kick off her return with a performance last Thursday at Forty Deuce. After rehearsing her set twice, Spears pulled out just hours before she was to hit the stage because, according to Kane, she said she didn’t feel prepared.

Before a raucous crowd that chanted her name, Britney Spears continued her comeback mini-tour Wednesday night, performing the same lip-synched routine of older hits from her show the night before.

The 12-minute set at the Anaheim, Calif., House of Blues followed her return to the stage Tuesday night at the House of Blues in San Diego after a nearly three-year absence from live performing.

Security was tighter in Anaheim – it took the crowd nearly two hours to get through the metal detectors – with guards seizing cell phones in an apparent reaction to the flood of pictures and videos of the San Diego show on the Internet.

At 9:30 p.m., after the vast majority of the crowd had made it past security, the chants of “Britney! Britney!” started, with one girl exhorting the crowd with shouts of, “She’s got to feel the love!”

A few minutes later, the lights dimmed on the stage, empty save for a single white chair. The crowd exploded into screams and applause as the four backup dancers appeared, two on each side, snaking their way across the stage. As the first strains of “… Baby One More Time” became recognizable, Spears emerged in a brown wig, white go-go boots, a white mini-skirt and a sparkling pink bikini top.

Like the San Diego show, the set was a short medley of Spears’s hits, with “I’m a Slave 4 U” following “Hit Me” and the crowd showering the pop star with shouts of approval each time she wiggled her hips. (Notably, she was also able to chew gum while performing.)

The lights dimmed after the second song, going a soft red, with the back-up dancers exiting the stage and leaving Britney alone to strut slowly to the lone chair as “Breathe On Me” started. The crowd roared as she seductively gyrated on the chair before her dancers returned and pulled a male fan from the audience to be serenaded by Spears.

A brief interlude allowed Spears to change into a tiny denim skirt, a plain pink bra and a short, white fur coat. Her “Do Something” routine included some air guitar, a lot of the hands-on-hips hip thrusts and a brief homage to the running man dance move.

Spears dropped her fur coat to the floor for the final song, “Toxic,” and smiled as she mouthed the words. Audience members gave the show positive reviews overall – one female fan told People magazine of the set: “It was short, it was good. She looked good, she did her thing.” But Kelly Weston of Orange County said, “She was a little off, a little slower than her dancers. If I hadn’t heard about last night I would probably be disappointed.” Still, her fans were in the house to support Spears: One group of young women wore matching pink tank tops reading “Bald Ambition” on the front and “The Comeback 2007″ on the back.
