Britney Spears has rejected a plea deal of a year’s probation and a $150 fine, relating to her misdemeanor driving without a license case. According to J. Michael Flanagan, Britney Spears’s lawyer, Spears is being unfairly targeted due to her celebrity status. Flanagan stated that Britney does not even deserve a minor criminal conviction on her record, and that he would only consider an infraction for Spears, and a smaller fine.
Rejecting the plea means that Britney’s case will go to trial, and a date has been set for Oct. 15 in Van Nuys. According to People magazine, on Tuesday a court rejected Spears’s attempt to dismiss the misdemeanor charge and have her case put on hold. Flanagan had said in court papers that Spears was “currently unable to participate meaningfully” in the traffic case. |
