Pregnant pop-tart Britney Spears has caused even more controversy with babies and carseats, and now California lawmakers are trying to pass a law that requires parents to have their infants’ car seats face the back of the vehicle until they are 1 year old, according to a published report.
The pop princess prompted this potential law last week when she was photographed having her 8-month-old son Sean Preston hunched over in his car seat that was facing the front of the car.
The California motor-vehicle regulations state that babies who are under 1 year old or weigh less than 20 lbs are to have their car seats facing the back of the vehicle.
The ‘Toxic’ singer’s representatives claim Britney had every right to have the car seat facing forward because Sean Preston weighs more than 20 lbs.
But lawmakers apparently feel that the rule is no longer acceptable, and in hopes of clarifying any confusion, they have decided to attempt simplifying the code by ruling out the weight, so only children over 1 year old can have their seat face forward.
And if the law is passed, it will be called Britney’s Law.
