Nearly two months after her Southern California mini-tour in early May, Britney Spears is getting ready to hit the stage again.
June 30 at L.A.’s Greek Theatre, she’s due to join Cyndi Lauper, Erasure, Debbie Harry, The Dresden Dolls, The MisShapes with special guest Jeffree Star and host Margaret Cho live onstage for the “True Colors” concert tour, Spears’s choreographer, Misha Gabriel, tells PEOPLE.
Friday at the Millennium Dance Complex in North Hollywood, the pop star held final callbacks to find the two male backup dancers she’ll add to her act.
Only snag, she never showed up.
The plan had been for Spears to select two guys (out of 21) to join her in the choreographic number she’ll perform at the Greek.
Instead, however, she put her two longtime trusted female backup dancers – Criscilla Crossland and Lark – in charge of the process. The two videotaped all the aspirants, for Spears to observe and select at a later time.
Earlier, on June 7 (also at Millennium), Spears was there to oversee auditions herself, with nearly 150 men seeking to pop, lock, whack, vogue, b-boy, breakdance, robot and moonwalk their way into her heart.
Those who were put through paces that day did so to Spears’s new, as-yet unreleased song.
As dancer Sam Pete, 25, described the tune to PEOPLE: “It was dope. It reminded me of that one song you hear at 1:50 a.m., when they call last call at a club, and it’s the hottest, nastiest song you’ve ever heard in your life and you’ve just got to put your drink down and dance to it. You’ve got no choice. Your body is insisting on it.”

Do you not realize what you are doing? You need to pull your head out of your ass and grow the f*** up. I heard today that you got a little puppy. Why did you do that when you can’t even take care of your own children? I finally see why your mother is trying to take them away from you. If I was your mother I would too! Those children need you, not a nanny while you go out and party. Do you know how irresponsible you are? Probably not cause you are so f***ing stupid. Your going to lose your kids and I hope you do because they deserve so much better than seeing their mother every once in a while. Your also loseing a major amount of fans. You maybe have one or two. No body wants to be your fan because you are a discrace to pop cuture. Look at JT and Chris, they are doing so well. Why? Because they don’t STUPID stuff just for attention. They do things that would make you look up to them and say “WOW”. The main thing I’m trying to say is grow up and take care of your babies. Don’t neglect them. BE A MOTHER!

I just have to say who are you all to judge have any of you been through a messy divorce with a complete idiot (sorry brit but u no its true!) We can all agree that that idiot Kevin was a waste of space and did no good for her but THATS HER CHOICE! ill always love Britney bcos she’s the one even now that everyone would love to be, and she’s accomplished more in her short lifetime than most of us can only dream about! First hello Miss B, you don’t know me but rest assured I am neither one of your adoring fans nor one of the foaming at the mouth critics … your music has been inescapable and so I have watched your rise with some detached interest.
It was ‘Lucky’ that did it, living in the UK I went out and bought a copy on CD, and was immediately struck by the contrasts … so much wealth and little happiness; I wondered then if your ‘hubris’ would not ‘tempt the gods’.
Unfortunately, like it or not, your fame has made you a role model for young people and with that comes a chunk of responsibility … Nothing about your life to date is set in cement, but recently you have made a variety of rash and ill-advised/uninformed choices … which have damaged/harmed your image, fans, career and family … None of which you can take for granted, ‘hit-and-run’, or ignore. As for your personal life and life-style choices that is a matter of freedom of choice, while I may not approve I also refuse to support those who would rush to judge you … Whether you are an ‘angel’ or a ‘monster’ then I and everyone else have made you so …
Many of your songs make people happy, for that you deserve credit, being a mum means you deserve a degree of respect, I would like to see you recover your previous dignity for your own sake and that of your children … so wise up and look after yourself Britney Jean Spears.
