It seems Britney Spears may have cost herself a few extra dollars after showing an apparent willingness to expose herself in front of the paparazzi.

The former pop princess turned media meltdown queen has reportedly been shunned by Hugh Hefner and his Playboy empire. Spears was rumored to be willing to pose in the pages of the magazine but wanted a seven figure deal, Hefner was willing to dole out $400,000.

Hefner may be doing Britney Spears a huge favor by underbidding as a deal with Playboy might not be in the “Toxic” singer’s best interests if she wants to keep her two kids.

Sinead O’Connor has offered to become Britney Spears‘ “bodyguard”. The Irish singer gave Spears a little unlikely support at a show in Los Angeles on Tuesday when she dedicated her version of spiritual Rivers of Babylon to the struggling mum of two. O’Connor told fans, “I’ve been keeping an eye on a girl who is getting a hard time in the media lately, and I just want her to know that if she needs a bodyguard, I’m her girl. “I’d like to dedicate this song to Britney Spears.”

It seems that Britney Spears is the hot favourite for playing a role in a new sitcom opposite ‘Friends’ star Matthew Perry.

Perry plays a businessman who asks a girl to pretend to be his wife to give his career a boost.

According to reports, NBC TV network heads want Spears to play the girl’s role.

A TV source said that Spears has the appeal that connects with the audience.

“There’s something about her that just connects with the audience,’ CM quoted the source, as saying.

UPDATE: A rep for NBC told Access Hollywood that the story is “untrue.”

P Diddy has dismissed claims that Britney Spears was drunk at the MTV Video Music Awards – saying he never saw her touch a drop of alcohol.

The rap star, 37, says he offered booze to everyone backstage at Las Vegas hotel The Sands - but insists Brit stuck to water before she performed her comeback single Gimme More.

‘The times that I was around her, in her defense, she don’t drink any alcohol,’ he tells TV show Access Hollywood.

‘I didn’t see her drink. I was hospitable, I offered everybody a drink and, you know, she had water.’

Britney Spears, wearing her brand new glasses, was seen buying ice cream and red bull at her local drugstore Tuesday. Britney was with a friend and seemed a little annoyed with the paparazzi. Who can blame her?

In a recent interview, soon to be aired, Oprah questioned Justin Timberlake about his relationship with Britney Spears.

“What do you think is going on with Britney?” she asked.

Replying to the question, Timberlake said: “I don’t know, to be honest with you. I haven’t spoken to her in years. I mean, there’s no ill will - I have nothing but love for her. It’s funny because we dated each other at a time … wow, I haven’t talked about this in a long time. It’s interesting.”

When Oprah pressed him to be more clearer on what he had to say about Britney, he said: “We were teenagers, you know?”

“I think that’s basically the best way to describe what happened to us. I think she’s a great person, and I don’t know her as well as I did. What I do know about her is she has a huge heart, and she is a great person,” he added.

Just hours after a judge ordered random drug tests for Britney Spears, the singer hit the Los Angeles nightclub scene overnight Tuesday.

Followed by a pack of paparazzi, Spears first was seen at Winston’s in West Hollywood with Lavigne and Spears’s friend Alli Sims.

The women left around 1 a.m., and Spears was later spotted at Hyde Lounge in West Hollywood until the club closed.

“They kept bringing (Spears) shots and so they were drinking,” says a Hyde observer. “She was dancing on the tables trying to be really sexy, even putting a black sock over her head as a hat, and putting on a show for everyone.”
